Describe how your prior academic experience has prepared you for graduate study in French at the University of Alabama and specify the fields in which you are interested. Indicate how the profile of our graduate program and the courses offered align with your goals while a student at UA and after graduation. If you wish to be considered for GTA support, please indicate why you are interested in teaching and how pedagogical training in the French Graduate Program will help you achieve your professional goals.

Transcript
Please upload an unofficial transcript for any institution of higher education at which you have completed 15 or more credit hours. Graduate Admission Test Scores
NOTE: During the COVID-19 crisis, admission test scores are not required for students applying for spring, summer, and fall 2021 admission. This information supersedes the regular test score requirements for this program listed in this section. Unofficial GRE or MAT scores required. Official scores must be submitted on admission (GRE School Code: 1830; MAT School Code: 1012). The admission test score is waived for those holding a graduate degree at the time of enrollment.

English Proficiency Test
NOTE: During the COVID-19 crisis, in addition to the language tests listed in this section, we are accepting Duolingo scores (minimum of 105 for regular admission). Non-native speakers are required to submit unofficial TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE scores (official scores are submitted on admission) unless they meet at least one of the following criteria: 1) at the time of initial enrollment, they will hold a degree from a U.S. institution or an institution in one of the English speaking countries or regions in the link below; 2) at the time of initial enrollment, they will have been enrolled in coursework for at least two years at a U.S. institution or an institution in one of the English speaking countries or regions in the link below; 3) they are a citizen or legal resident of one of the English speaking countries or regions in the link below. https://graduate.ua.edu/prospective-students/international-admissions/

TOEFL: 79, IELTS: 6.5, PTE: 59.
Writing SampleA writing sample (about 10 pages) is required in the target language, showing competence in the language and analytical ability.
Additional Requirements:Submit a 3-5 minute (MP3 or itunes compatible) audiovisual recording in which you speak freely about yourself in a conversational manner (do not read a prepared text). Then read a paragraph from a French text of your choice, or a short poem.
